Drop-out rate falls

JAPAN The number of students dropping out of high school is at an all-time low. The figure for 1993-1994 is below 100,000 for the first time since records were introduced. The ministry of education says this reflects the success of measures to improve the atmosphere in schools. These include a broader curriculum, more student-friendly courses and counselling schemes for students who fall behind with work.
