Although the pleasures of #halfterm may already feel like a distant memory to some teachers in Scotland, others have been enjoying the twin pleasures of Xbox and pizza only this week.

Drinking red wine and napping are also popular half-term pastimes for educators, such as @Darwin09, who tweeted the words ”#teacher #teacher” alongside a photo of a bottle of 2013 Ctes Du Rhone, and @wawah32, who said: “Alarm set to `off’ and a bottle of red wine open.”

For many of those who have spent the winter cooped up in a classroom, half term is a time to escape to the great outdoors. @BaconBit86, for example, said: “Teacher destress=walking in the Yorkshire Dales!”

But even during the holidays, work is never far away. @RuSnow8 said of half term: “POSITIVES = walk the dog after little lie-in. NEGATIVES = marking 44 essays and 66 books.” @kat_thorpe, meanwhile, was already ploughing through some “Monday Morning Marking” with the help of The Smiths.

Inevitably, for every happy teacher there’s an envious worker who, like @Rjtlloyd, @nikkigrinchie and @AMPMPALtd, “wish” they were teachers. But probably only a few weeks of the year.
