Teaching staff suffer headaches, sleeplessness and loss of concentration as a result of stress at work, according to an EIS survey of employees at Edinburgh College.
The survey of almost 300 union members showed that more than half struggled with continual tiredness frequently, and more than 80 per cent suffered from stress-related headaches sometimes or frequently.
More than 200 respondents said they sometimes or frequently felt depressed, while nine out 10 had problems sleeping.
In anonymous comments made in the survey, staff said they felt unsupported and raised concerns over workload and bullying.
A spokesman for the college said it had received no formal grievances related to bullying or harassment and would encourage staff to report any concerns.
“It is disappointing that EIS have not presented the results of their survey to college management, nor requested a meeting to discuss the results,” he added.
