A team of pupils from Boclair Academy in East Dunbartonshire have been named the winners of a national contest on green issues.

The Project Green competition, organised by Careers Scotland as part of The Path is Green national campaign, asked pupils from secondary schools and colleges across the country to work in teams to put together a four-page online newsletter themed around one of three global environmental issues: carbon footprint, energy or food.

Judges picked the team’s entry ahead of six other shortlisted finalists at an event held in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. The team, known as Universitas, chose to write about energy and was made up of Jenna Carey (14), Lindsay Kerr (15) and Shelley Queen (15), and organised by teacher Neil Henderson.

Members of the winning team received an Eco Media Player and have won the opportunity to visit BBC Scotland’s state-of-the-art headquarters in Glasgow with weather forecaster Heather Reid.
