Euro vision thing

Kate Taylor (“Why leaders need to show Euro vision”, TES, May 11) mentions a lack of resources relating to Europe as an obstacle to effective implementation of the citizenship curriculum.

The Central Bureau of the British Council has a network of 45 European Resource Centres for schools. Many materials can be sent out free of charge. Last year the network received more than 16,000 enquiries from teachers.

We also help teachers and council officials to gan international professional development by examining best practice abroad.

An effective way to encourage pupils to think about Europe is to get them to interact with counterparts in other European countries. Funding for projects with partner schools in other countries is also available through the bureau. See www.centralbureau.org.uk Elspeth Cardy
