Clotheshow Live at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, December 2-7, will feature non-stop fashion shows, designer labels, high-street brands, celebrities and live music. The winners of bursary competitions to encourage young people aged 13 to 23 in drawing, design, garment-making, pattern-cutting and business will also be announced.

Designing Modern Britain, an exhibition at the Design Museum, Shad Thames, London SE1, opens on December 3. From London Transport’s 1930s design programme and the 1951 Festival of Britain to plans for the 2012 Olympics, visitors will be able to see how design has shaped modern Britain.
