* Chris Woodhead, the chief inspector, this week held out the prospect of financial compensation to schools that had been treated unfairly by inspectors. He could not, however, give any indication of how much money might be involved, or what sort of complaints would justify compensation. He was announcing the Office for Standards in Education’s new complaints procedure which will give schools access to an independent adjudicator.
