Newly qualified teachers who cannot find a job will now be able to work as a supply teacher for five years. Regulations which put a limit of 16 months on the time NQTs in England can spend doing short-term work before starting their induction year will be scrapped, the Department for Education has announced. Changes will come into force in April 2012.
