A private company has had its contract to run education services in Surrey extended. VT Group, a former ship-building firm, has been given the four-year extension to provide services to 400 schools in the county until 2015. The public-private partnership with Surrey County Council provides schools with education, finance and personnel services, curriculum advice and technology support, governor services, grounds maintenance and cleaning. In 2009, VT Group made pre-tax profits of #163;86.6 million.
