It was 1968 and Frankie Vaughan gave up asking for the moonlight and a girl and instead demanded a new youth centre for Easterhouse to end gang warfare in the Glasgow houing scheme. The rest was up to the local authority and the Scottish Office, although Vaughan continued to raise funds through concerts after alerting the nation to the violence and lack of hope on the east side of the city.
