Five free, full-colour posters, together with teachers’ notes, are now available for 7 to 11-year-olds to help give children a better understanding of science.

The set of posters is a joint enterprise by the pharmaceutical industry’s trade association, the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) and two research councils - the Biotechnology and Biology Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and the Medical Research Council.

The set, Learning About Life, covers a variety of basic subjects, including how medicines are made; awareness about disability and illness; the work of a doctor and a vet; micro organisms; plants and scientists.

Some 25,000 packs are being sent to primary and middle schools throughout the UK and additional copies are available from the ABPI, 12 Whitehall, London SW1A 2DY; the BBSRC, Polaris House, North Star Avenue, Swindon SN2 1UT; or the MRC, 20 Park Crescent, London W1N 4AL.
