Fruit and veg to replace chips

14th July 2000, 1:00am
SCHOOL canteens will soon be expected to dish up fruit and vegetables every day, but will face no limit on how often they can offer fish or meat. From April 2001 primary schools will not be able to servechips more than three times a week, while secondary schools must always have available an alternative “starchy food” - such as rice, noodles or pasta - which has not been cooked in oil or fat.
