Galleries trainee call

20th September 2002, 1:00am
Engage, the national association for gallery education, is keen to encourage student teachers out of the classroom under new regulations from the Teacher Training Agency which allows them to spend part of their initial training in local galleries and museums.

Christopher Naylor, director of Engage, said the idea grew from consultations between his organisation and the education and culture departments a couple of years ago. It was pioneered in Bradford’s Cartwright Hall art gallery and museum, which Education Secretary Estelle Morris visited recently.
