Government launches fundamental review

5th February 1999, 12:00am
The Government has launched a fundamental review of the future of the TTA - and is to take a direct role in key training initiatives.

The Department for Education and Employment is to develop key training schemes which underpinned its teaching Green Paper.

Education Secretary David Blunkett has announced that the TTA the DFEE will take charge of the new leadership college for school managers, have a greater role in headteacher training, and design and run the new fast-track recruitment scheme.

The announcements were officially welcomed by the TTA, which described the five-yearly review as “routine”.
