Greeks and gifts

Language barriers still seem to be frustrating European integration, judging by the visit of Greek educationists to a Glasgow further education college recently.

As tourists do, they sought out some authentic Scottish gifts to ferry home. A helpful member of staff directed them to Frasers in the heart f the city, and ordered a taxi.

The cabbie was advised by a bold member of the group in a decidedly strong Greek accent that they wanted “Freezers”. You’re ahead of us - they were soon deposited outside the nearest Iceland superstore. Homeward with pounds of mince rather than tartan scarves.
