The General Teaching Council for Scotland has started “professional update” programmes in three local authorities.
North Lanarkshire, East Renfrewshire and Perth and Kinross will host the pilots, to run in two school clusters in each authority and involve teachers from the early years, primary, secondary and special sectors.
The Erskine Stewart’s Melville Schools in Edinburgh and the University of the West of Scotland, meanwhile, will host pilots for the independent sector and higher education.
The aim is to gather information about the practicalities of professional update - a term the GTCS chose over “reaccreditation” - and how it will help teachers in the professional review and development (PRD) process.
A GTCS spokesman said the three authorities had been chosen to provide as wide a range of areas as possible, with their differing approaches to CPD taken into account.
