Schools were due yesterday to be given fresh Government guidance on their new statutory duty to promote pupils’ wellbeing. Ministers insist this will not be an extra burden and the document would set out what support schools can expect from their local authority and other partners, such as NHS primary care trusts. The Department for Children, Schools and Families also announced proposals to give schools more say on local Children’s Trusts and drafting plans for children’s services. A spokeswoman said: “In many areas schools haven’t always been involved or found it difficult to get their voice heard.”
