Hard up students at Wales’s FE colleges have been forced to drop out following Assembly government cuts to a hardship fund. According to fforwm, the representative body for Welsh colleges, its members were only informed of the 7 per cent cut to the Financial Contingency Fund during the summer holidays, leaving some students with limited financial support. John Graystone, fforwm’s chief executive, said around 2,000 students would be affected.
