Head aches

Headteacher Adam Reed may well not fear Ofsted’s visits, but he is in a freakish minority (“Too tough at the top”, TES Magazine, January 29). The notion that heads would “get used” to an ever-changing inspection regime is simplistic at best.

What we require is a mass shortage of headteachers, which not even fast-track routes can rectify, to enable overt pressure to be put upon the Government towards the rebalancing of both expectation and accountability of the many and diverse roles of the headteacher.
