Headteacher suspended

24th June 2005, 1:00am
Donald Matheson of Hermitage Academy in Helensburgh, one of Scotland’s leading headteachers, has been suspended following “some concerns raised by an internal audit report”.

A spokesman for Argyll and Bute Council said the matter had been passed to the police and it would be inappropriate to comment further. In suspending Mr Matheson, a former president of the Headteachers’ Association of Scotland, the council says it is following its normal procedures pending an internal investigation.
