Highland takes a jab at flu

IT can start with a headache and hot sweat. But the medical condition is not an imminent inspection from Her Majesty’s classroom monitors. It is that F word that begins with i - influenza.

In the season of sniffs, sneezes, aches and pains, some of the 200 teachers in the Nairn area this week opted for a free pilot vaccination programme. Teachers themselves proposed the pound;1,200 cure.

Bruce Robertson, education director, said the scheme would be extended if it proves successful but it would remain voluntary.
