History - Build a virtual roundhouse

17th October 2008, 1:00am

Life among the Celts and Romans is the subject of a new online resource.

It will allow pupils to explore an Iron Age roundhouse at Birnie, near Elgin, find a hoard of Roman coins and discover what life was like in north-east Scotland 2,000 years ago. It provides an insight into the work of an archaeologist and also the chance to build a virtual roundhouse.

National Museums Scotland has launched the resource, Discover Celts and Romans at Birnie, to build on school visits to the site, which it has been helping arrange since 2004.
