A touring project designed to bring local history to life is visiting Elgin this week.
Creative Connections involves artworks created by community groups and inspired by the collections of the Royal Commission on Ancient and Historical Monuments. They are based on local landmarks or topical issues, such as the Forth bridges and renewable energies in the Highlands.
The organisers believe that getting people to think about their local built environment is important, because it is an area which has often been under-exploited by education.
The Elgin event, held from today until Sunday, will be based on Pictish stones. Brownies will work with RCAHMS illustrator John Borland and education consultant Calum Price to produce a tourist leaflet.
Workshops have already taken place in Kirkcaldy, Cromarty, Benbecula, Lanark, Edinburgh, Dundee, Peebles, Findhorn and Falkirk. The tour will end in Orkney in May.
