A Naace qualification to have
Naace, the professional association for ICT teachers, has launched a qualification aimed at teachers in leadership roles. The Certified Naace Professional scheme aims to promote good practice in leading ICT in education and is divided into four strands: capability, development, leadership and impact. Courses can be taken at undergraduate or masters level, leading to the award of a certificate or diploma, depending on the number of credits obtained. For details, go to www.naace.co.uk.
Get in a spin with handheld PC
A new handheld computer designed for use in the classroom is going on sale next month. The Fizzbook Spin encompasses netbook, e-reader and touch screen, and is equipped with word processing, spreadsheet and art software. The 10-inch PCs have a rubberised surface for easy grip, the screen swivels through 180 degrees and the PCs are convertible from laptop to tablet. They are expected to cost around pound;350 each.
How to engage Mum and Dad online
Becta, the government agency which promotes technology in schools, is holding a series of conferences on how to engage parents online. The events will look at the role of online reporting - through email, text or websites - in establishing good relationships with parents, as well as hearing from schools using learning platforms and portals to further home- school links.
