CHILD OF RESOLUTION AWARD

This National Association for the Education of Sick Children award recognises the extraordinary efforts of five to 16-year-olds in Britain to continue their education despite serious illness and interruption to school attendance. Nominations should be in by February 28.

Ten winners will be invited to a ceremony in the Great Hall, St Bartholomew’s Hospital, on May 1. Details: O181 980 8523.

RESEARCH REQUESTS

Leverhulme research fellow, Michele Dowling is working on a project entitled “Teacher training as the social history of ideas, 1944-1972” and would like to talk to ex-students who attended any of these colleges between 1944-1972: Whitelands and Southlands, Wimbledon; St Mary’s, Strawberry Hill; the City of Coventry; and the College of the Venerable Bede, Durham.

For her work on factors affecting student selection of religious studies at SCE level in high schools (in the Scottish Borders), Farmington research fellow, Tessa Robinson, is focusing on case studies, but would welcome additional information on student, parent and staff perceptions of the content, skills and value of RS at all levels, the process of examination subIect selection and RSiinked careers advice.

This may relate to the English or Scottish education systems.

Results will be published - maintaining anonymity- by The Farmington Institute, Oxford.
