Insult spared

7th February 1997, 12:00am
It is refreshing to hear schools minister Robin Squire (TES, January 17) waxing lyrical about the Government not wanting to insult the professionalism of teachers by prescribing the amount of homework set.

Can we now look forward to an administration that has introduced the most prescriptive national curriculum in history being teacher-friendly, and will this continue after the election?
