It’s Hell out there

Most religions aim to keep their believers away from Hell. But one Catholic school has taken this literally.

Five-year-old Max Hell was refused a place at his local Catholic school in Melbourne, Australia, because of his name. The head, clearly keen to avoid blaspheming each time he called the register, said that he would only enrol Max if he used his mother’s maiden name, Wembridge. But Max’s father insisted that Hell reflected his Austrian heritage and meant “bright”.
