A consortium of maths organisations has launched a pound;3.3 million drive to get more people studying the subject at university.
The Institute of Mathematics and the London Mathematical Society are among the groups set to target school pupils, teachers and careers advisers. They want to raise awareness of the importance of studying maths and the opportunities it offers to ethnic and social groups not traditionally involved in the subject.
The project is funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England.
