Joint-up

6th November 1998, 12:00am
The Education Minister’s announcement of a “school drugs safety team” will be of interest to Sam Galbraith, the Children’s Minister, who is fond of calling for “joined-up policies”.

Helen Liddell acted after heroin worth Pounds 500 was found in the schoolbag of a pupil at Glasgow’s Craigton primary. The move followed closely from a separate initiative in the very same week by the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities, which announced a Scottish Local Government Drugs Forum. These bodies will presumably now hum in concert with the Scottish Advisory Committee on Drugs Misuse.
