Karaoke crime

Continuing the musical theme, Andy Connell, a history teacher at Appleby grammar school in Cumbria and an elected member of the General Teaching Council, has released his second album of crooning covers. The Lakeland loveboat sings hits based on songs by Elvis, Tom Jones, Billy Fury and others on Got to clear my mind, available for pound;5 a copy through the diary (pound;2 goes to the National Autistic Society).

“Global sales are 150, so far. It was a Christmas hit in Appleby,” Mr Connell boasts.

But be warned, while his singing is really quite melodious to the Diary’s ears, his karaoke-style backings are a crime worthy of a full GTC disciplinary hearing.
