A new classics magazine is being given out free to schools which do not teach the subject. Iris, published this month, features a range of material including sketches depicting ancient myths, spells, and essays exploring different aspects of the subject.

Lorna Robinson, editor of the magazine, said: “This initiative hopes to awaken and nurture an interest in the classics by making it accessible and appealing to a broad audience.

“The languages, literature, histories and art of the ancient world are fascinating and beautiful, and the opportunity to study these areas should be made available to all, regardless of background.”
