There are four accredited courseware providers for the European Computer Driving Licence qualification, but Aston Swann says it is the only one with courseware specifically written for teachers.

“During the course, the teachers learn in context. So if we are taking them through the word-processing module, we show them how to lay out a lesson plan. If we’re doing spreadsheets, we show them how to sort exam results,” says Debbie Skyrme.

The product on offer at SETT conforms with the most recent version of ECDL - Syllabus 4.

The course for complete beginners lasts around 57 hours and the licence allowing any number of copies to be printed costs pound;495, with an additional pound;25 for each teacher trained.
