Yet again we have a quibble over the apostrophe (letters, June 15). Maybe we could kill this nonsense forever if we all simply stopped using it. This would have no effect on meaning, not least because the bulk of the population either misuse or ignore it.
Safeways, Tescos and The TES all get it wrong and shoppers and teachers in their millions barely notice. They are neither misled nor confused. With no apostrophe we would need no rules, and the only casualty would be the TTA literacy test.
