GOOSEBUMPS author RL Stine clocked up the highest number of children’s loans from British public libraries this year. The 140 books by the USmass-market horror writer were borrowed more than a million times in total. Other favourites included Roald Dahl, Enid Blyton, Janet am; Allan Ahlberg and Lucy “Animal Ark” Daniels.
