Glasgow believes it is on course by the end of the year to be one of the first cities in the country to have all its 32 libraries linked online to “real learning centres”, via 385 personal computers. The final phase of the pound;2.25 million project was given the go-ahead by Scottish Enterprise Glasgow which is behind the initiative along with the city council and the New Opportunities Fund. FE colleges, universities and Learning and Teaching Scotland are involved. Learning centres are attracting 1,000 registered members a month as more come on stream.
