SURREY education chair Dr Andrew Povey has brought a rare glimpse of erudition to the council debating chamber.
Councillors have taken to questioning Dr Povey in Latin - and he has responded in kind.
The cause of this reflowering of a long-dead language is Surrey’s initiative to reintroduce Latin into primary schools - using modern technology.
“Cum haec societas bene confirmata sit res technologicae norissimae auxilio maximo omnibus erunt,” Dr Povey informed colleagues.
