Mad as a hatter

Your lead story says “Clarke freezes teachers’ pay” (TES, January 17). As I understand it, governments, both Conservative and Labour but particularly the latter, have bombarded teachers with initiatives that are the major cause of the workload issue in the first place. The suggestion now is that teachers in effect pay for the proposed solution to try to reduce the said workload. Is it just me or is this something from Through the Looking Glass?
