Man Utd look to local squad

European and Premiership champions Manchester United kick off another training centre today - to boost literacy and numeracy among local children. The football club’s centre, part of the Department for Education and Employment-funded Playing for Success scheme, is being opened by United’s manager Sir Alex Ferguson ad will provide ICT-based study classes for key stages 2 to 4. It is equipped with six Compaq desktop computer, six Toshiba laptops and a range of software, some from neighbouring Granada Learning (see page 28 feature on the support centre at Leeds United).
