Mandatory tests will play havoc with young

The Government’s drastic withdrawal of funding from schools seems incomprehensible in the light of their profligate spending on the early-years sector. To impose reading tests at six, league tables at five and compulsory assessment at four will not only cost billions but destroy the nation’s infants before the natural age of readiness for cognitive education. They know not what they do.
