Create a classroom of maths whizzes

Whizz Education is aiming to raise the standard of maths education around the world with its Curriculum for Excellence-aligned software, Maths-Whizz.

What is it?

An online program divided into a teachers’ area and a tutoring area. The teachers’ area contains downloadable lesson plans, investigation ideas and resources, as well as a window to track pupils’ progress. The tutoring area allows pupils to continue their studies at home. Pupils’ hard work is rewarded with credits that they can spend on games, virtual pets, food and toys.

Maths problems are displayed visually, from measuring graphs to hopping frog games. The aim is to move away from numerical sums and help pupils to learn through play. Parents can log in to see their children’s progress.

The program is designed as an individualised learning framework, assessing pupils’ progress and adapting content to suit their needs, pace and ability.

What else?

It also includes a dictionary and tools section so that pupils can count money, use an interactive ruler and calculator and look up key mathematical terms. For more fun ways to learn maths, check out an interactive maths booster shared by the TES Resources team.
