The middle class has lost the will to serve

David Blunkett made a modest start in offering to write off the student loans of teachers who work for ten years. The same should be done for every essential job. The nation could signal that it values service, even if it can’t afford to pay it megabucks.

Children shouldbe taught that wealth is not the highest goal. Politicians should hang out with good and learned people, not shifty millionaires. Role models other than Ginger Spice should be put forward. Money, in short, should get back in its box, and learn its place.
