Mind your own business

Teachers’ authority should end at the school gates (“When outside school, should you intervene?”, Professional, 31 January). I still resent a pompous teacher telling me to put my tie on several miles from school. There is nothing wrong with swigging from cans, necking at bus stops or playing music on buses. The school’s image in the eyes of local gossips is irrelevant.
