AN electronic “in-tray” and an Internet “A to Z” of school management will be available to all heads from September as part of the Government’s drive to cut red tape.
Ministers are planning to phase out most paper-based communications by 2002. More than 3,500 heads have already subscribed to the new publishing service on the web for schools at www.easea.co.uk.
As well as the in-tray there will be a document-archiving servie and an electronic encyclopedia for heads offering practical guidance, links to reference materials and examples of good practice. The aim is for all key services for teachers to be placed on one website.
So far the Department for Education and Employment says its drive to reduce bureaucracy has cut out more than 10,000 hours of non-essential form filling in schools and local authorities.
