Misplaced fears;Letter

FEARS expressed by a GM primary headteacher in Worcestershire (TES, April 23) of, “stagnation, inflexibility and dancing to the LEA’s tune” once the sector is abolished, are misplaced.

Before Worcestershire County Council came into existence in April 1998 I met with the eight GM heads and invited them to rejoin the family of LEA schools and to work with us as valued partners. They accepted. Since then we have been glad to use the GM expertise in creating an LEA which we expect to become one of the best.
