THE revolution continues! After Hackney pupils’ stand against education action zones (they took their demands for a “broad and balanced curriculum” on to the streets last week, you’ll recall) the SWP steps up the struggle in Islington, north London.

Islington is of course in the process of tendering out most of its education service, following a miserable OFSTED report. Rattling tins outside Angel tube station, members of the SWP were seen on Saturday urging shoppers to sign a petition opposing this privatisation.

One busy shopper who was encouraged to add her name to the list felt she had to decline their invitation. Her name was Leisha Fullick, otherwise known as the chief executive of Islington Council.

Never mind, comrades. Vinceremos!
