Monstrous waters

Local education conveners are not, of course, noted for going out of their way to visit exotic places.

And so it was that a number found themselves recently in Drumnadrochit, up Loch Ness way. The purpose was to visit Glenurquhart High at the invitation of Andy Anderson, Highland’s education convener.

Anderson proudly showed his colleagues round the new building. With great flourish, he pointed to the water-only vending machines which are central to the council’s health-promoting schools initiative.

Alas, SNP man Anderson quickly realised the water was not just the source of health but also of embarrassment, when it was noted that the said machine only sold English water - in one of the wettest places in Scotland.
