More assessment gets low marks

Suggestions from the Royal Society that more teacher assessment should be used in the 14-19 curriculum drew a scathing response from some teachers at a workshop. The society is likely to make the recommendation in a report for Mike Tomlinson’s inquiry into 14-19 provision across all subjects. But Trevor Watson, head of science at Invicta grammar, Kent, said: “This is great for the kids, but it means lots more workload for teachers.”
