More foul than fair: exams fury bubbles over

As I write, the day after the release of the Ofqual report into English GCSE marking, it struck me that we are in real danger in schools and as a profession of being consumed by this fiasco. While it is a gross injustice for a significant number of pupils and does need to be rectified, I am confident that will happen. Some big guns are fighting on our behalf.

In the meantime, we are about to embark on a new academic year with huge changes to teacher appraisal, the possible overhaul of GCSEs, a new secondary curriculum and ongoing concern about pension issues, as well as the day-to-day core business of delivering excellent teaching and learning to our pupils. Let’s not forget that.
