Online Classics broadcasts opera, classical music, ballet and theatre and runs a subscription website. But not a lot of people know that it has an excellent education section on the website, put together by primary teacher Leon Cych on an industry secondment from his role at All Saints School, west London. A recent addition to the site is the section on the overture, containing a number of interactive resources, links and even lesson plans. It is designed for Year 8 of the English national curriculum but would be helpful to anyone who needed to know about the overture (five overtures over 200 years). Composers guides on Berlioz and Vivaldi are also available and on Othello and the Merchant of Venice.
