Is the Ofsted where an inspector had a conviction for unacceptable conduct the same Ofsted which condemns schools for not having adequate background checks on staff? (“Ofsted inspector had conviction for unacceptable teaching conduct”, January 8.) If so, should chief inspector Christine Gilbert be invited to dismiss this too as a “myth”? (“School inspections have no secret agenda”, December 18.)
